Sankari
Krishnan M.A. M.Phil (Music), a
gold medalist from the University of Madras, had her
initial training under Shri K.S.Subramanian of Trichy. She is
extremely fortunate in that she is getting advanced training
for over a decade from one of the greatest maestros of all times, Padmabhushan Lalgudi Shri G.Jayaraman
under whose tutelage she has blossomed into a reputed performer
par excellence
Sankari has been an "A" Grade artiste
in All India Radio, Chennai since 1993 and has had the
privilege of performing in the prestigious "Akashvani Sangeeth
Sammelan" in the year 2000. Also she has rendered National
Programmes in Doordharshan apart from having featured
in various private channels. She has performed in most of the
prestigious organizations and Sabhas in Chennai and all over
India. She has also performed in the United States of America, Germany, Finland, Singapore and Malaysia. Besides, she has had the rare honour
of rendering special "Veena & Voice"
concerts alongside eminent Veena maestro, Dr. Karaikudi S.Subramanian, Founder Director, Brhaddhvani,
"The Research & Training Centre for the Musics of the World".
She has won accolades for her interactive performances with
prominent and popular jazz musicians of international repute
from the United States of America and Germany. She has also
given many interviews/interactive programmes in Doordharshan
and other private channels and has won many awards from childhood. She has released a number of Classical and Devotional Cds
Besides being an accomplished performer, Sankari is also an
established teacher. She has many years experience as Lecturer
in Music at Mother Teresa Women's University. Presently she
is a Senior Faculty at Brhaddhvani,
wherein she has imbibed the scientific and holistic teaching
methods evolved by Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian and is creatively
imparting music education.
Sankari Krishnan had the rare privilege of being the only Indian
Musician to be invited in 2008 for the International Musicians’
Residency Programme near New York in the United States of
America. Sankari skillfully interacted with other top musicians
from the US, Germany, Serbia, Russia, Taiwan, Columbia,
Kosova, Sweden, Mexico, Scotland and Netherland and
they were successful in presenting concerts after the
residential programme.
Sankari has also conducted many workshops for musicians
belonging to different genres and countries and also for
classical dancers.
